As the trade union movement has been decimated over the last five decades, so has the vibrant culture of political education that it provided. This session will be an opportunity to think through the importance of socialist political education in rebuilding both the labour movement and the working class, by looking at a concrete example.

The Centre for Popular Education, hosted by the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation, has been providing 2-3 day political economy and organising courses for trade unionists for the past two years, delivering their course with more than five unions, and hundreds of union members so far. The session will introduce the education, its impact to date, and discuss how we can increase the amount of ideological education on offer to British trade unions.
