12PM – 1:30PM

Abu Dhabi has become an increasingly visible player in the political economy of the UK. With its ownership of Man City, close partnership with the Labour-run council and the University, this is especially so here in Manchester. We’ll explore this growing influence, concerns over its human rights record and role in the Sudanese conflict, as well as how we can fight back.

Speakers

Jonathan is a professor of urban geography at the University of Sheffield and involved in the housing movement in Manchester.

Taha is a member of the Sudanese diaspora working with grassroots organisers locally and internationally, to advocate against the UAE’s role in the Sudan conflict.
